The Energy Checklist 7 Steps to Naturally Boost Your Energy
The Energy Checklist will help you take a closer look at what parts of your lifestyle may be affecting your health and well-being. Go through this checklist whenever you feel low in energy or out of balance in order to discover the clues that might explain where your low energy is coming from and what steps you can take to feel your very best.
1. What kind of sleep have I gotten lately?
ཟ You may need to get more hours of sleep.
ཟ You may need to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier.
2. What kind of movement have I done lately?
ཟ Try getting a mid-morning and mid-afternoon walk outside.
ཟ Start with 5 minutes a day and work your way up.
ཟ Stretch in the morning before you start your day.
3. What have I had to eat lately?
ཟ Focus on foods that increase energy like green veg-
etables, whole grains, healthy fats and proteins.
ཟ Limit foods that decrease energy like sugar, trans
fats and artificial ingredients.
4. What have I had to drink lately?
ཟ Decrease beverages with caffeine and sugar as they only provide temporary energy boosts that result in crashes later.
ཟ Drink more water. Or try herbal teas or lightly caffeinated teas like green or white tea.
5. What might be causing me stress lately?
Check in with other areas of your life that impact your health. (These other areas are what I call “Core Foods” when working with my Wellness Coaching clients.
6. Have I made time for my own self-care, nurturing or downtime lately?
Plan a date with yourself. Get a massage, read a book, take a yoga class or do something you enjoy but don’t usually make time for. If you aren’t sure what to do, simply stare out the window for awhile.
7. Have I been outside in nature lately?
Being cooped up inside too long can lead to stress. Get out in nature, feel the sunshine and breathe the fresh air.
